Meet Greg Tebbe

Greg Tebbe has always believed good food is worth the effort.
He grew up in Ohio as one of 10 kids. In a house that full, everybody helped. As soon as the Tebbe kids could reach the stovetop, they learned to cook. Greg was one of the older brothers, so cooking quickly became part of who he was.

That lesson never left him.

Greg served in the U.S. Army, then spent nearly 30 years working construction. He knows hard work. He knows how to build things right. And he knows cutting corners usually catches up with you.

After retiring in 2018, Greg and his wife started a small horse farm in Tipp City, Ohio. It was supposed to be a new chapter. Then COVID hit, supply chains got messy, and even a bag of potato chips was not what it used to be.

Smaller bags. Less flavor. Higher prices.

Greg had enough.

It Started With Chips

Instead of settling for disappointing chips, Greg started making his own.

He used olive oil, fresh potatoes, and a homemade seasoning blend he kept working on until it tasted just right. For two years, he experimented. He made chips for himself and his wife. He gave them to friends. He shared them with anyone willing to try them.

And people kept coming back for more.

The chips were good, but the seasoning was the real star.

The Cottage Cheese Test

In 2024, Greg was eating a bowl of cottage cheese when he decided to shake some of his chip seasoning on top.

That was the moment it clicked.

The name came to Greg while he was working in the barn.

He was thinking about the seasoning and what it could become. His thought was simple: “I bet this will do well.”

That became Hebetz, pronounced “he bets.”
