I was born and raised in Ohio with 9 other siblings. As soon as we could reach the stove top, we were taught to cook. As one of the oldest brothers, cooking became a huge part of my childhood and identity.

As an adult, I enlisted in the army to fulfill my civic duty. I then worked in construction for the better part of 30 years, retiring in 2018. Shortly after, my wife and I started a small horse farm. Then COVID-19 hit.

When “shrinkflation” and pandemic-era supply chain disruptions hit my potato chips, I drew the line. Soon after, I started making my own potato chips, using olive oil and a homemade seasoning. For two years, I experimented with the recipe, making the chips for myself and my wife, and giving away as many as I could. I was happy.

In 2024, while eating a bowl of cottage cheese, I had a lightbulb moment.

Sprinkling some of my homemade chip seasoning on the cottage cheese, I discovered a flavor sensation like no other. Since then, I have used the seasoning in a variety of recipes and foods, finding that the seasoning I had created was both versatile and complimentary.

I chose America’s Best Seasoning™ as the name for my business because I pride myself on not cutting corners. My seasoning contains no artificial colors, flavors, or monosodium glutamate (better known as MSG). Containing only 1 calorie per serving and 10 mg of sodium, this seasoning has the best of both worlds. The seasoning name itself, Hebetz Blend, originates from a day spent working in the barn. Reflecting on the seasoning, I thought “I bet this will do well”. It is a belief I continue to carry with me each and every day. America’s Best Seasoning Hebetz (pronounced “he bets”) Blend™ was born.
